Brown Brothers,
King Valley, VIC

9 December 2018

What an amazing event we had Brown Brothers, the perfect end to 2018. A massive crowd brought a “can do Wanga” attitude, and when I say “Wanga” I mean Wangaratta.

We had a bit of a rain dump before the event and at the conclusion as well, which just goes to show that ALL the gods stopped to watch Luke McGregor, Celia Pacquola, Pete Rowthron, Fiona O’Loughlin, Danielle Walker and Tom Gleeson perform killer sets.

My highlight was drinking a bottle of B.B Tempranillo with Pete Rowsthorn on the tiny airplane returning to Melbourne without once realising we were flying through an electrical storm. Wine was our pilot that night.

We will be travelling to some new wine regions in 2019 so tell your friends to keep an eye out.

Have a great Christmas and New Year, hope to see you all again in 2019….

Lineup

Adored for his role as long-time-suffering husband and pants-man Brett Craig on “Kath & Kim”. Pete Rowsthorn is one of Australia’s most loved comedians. With three decades of stand-up under his belt, Pete is about to unleash his high energy and fast-paced comedy on the King Valley.

Peter Rowsthorn

Celia Pacquola is a chameleon – a stand up comedian, writer and actor who springs effortlessly between stage and screen and has become one of our best-loved and most in-demand performers in any genre. Pretty much a Tassie local after creating and starring in five incredible seasons of ‘Rosehaven’, we couldn’t be happier to be bringing her to Josef Chromy.

Celia Pacquola

Tom Gleeson is in every Aussie comedian’s Top 5. A true master of the craft, he’s performed at every major comedy festival in the world and has been nominated for a Helpmann three times. A sure fire, killer stand-up at the top of his game.

Tom Gleeson

A slightly deranged girl, known for her dark and twisted everyday observations and stories, and returning to her hometown of Townsville! Winner of the ‘Best Newcomer’ award at the 2018 Melbourne International Comedy Festival. Danielle also appeared as ‘Ranger Danny’ alongside stars Kate McLennan and Kate McCartney on the show everyone fell in love with – “GetKrack!n” for ABC TV.

Danielle Walker

Writer, actor, and one of Australia’s favourite comedians. Luke is also co-creator, co-writer, and star of the smash hit sitcom ‘Rosehaven’ with Celia Pacquola for ABC TV, for which Luke won the award for Most Popular Actor at the 2019 TV Week Logie Awards! You might have also spotted him on ABC’s ‘Utopia’ or on ‘The Weekly with Charlie Pickering’ with his ‘Lukenomics’ segment.

Luke McGregor

Comedy Royalty, one of the most in demand comedians in the country. A late starter, but with an award-winning career of almost 20 years; Fiona plays to packed houses in venues and festivals across the globe. Winner of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival’s (MICF) ‘Best Newcomer’ award in 2001 and ‘Piece of Wood’ award in 2006. She’s also the Queen of the Jungle, having won Network Ten’s “I’m a Celebrity….Get Me Out of Here!”.

Fiona O’Loughlin

The “Merric” from Merrick and Rosso. Mez, as he is affectionately known, has worked at almost every radio and TV station in the country. You might have seen him recently getting smashed in the face on SAS Australia, Australia’s REAL reality show. Mez loves wine, so much so that he’s a qualified sommelier, with dreams of retiring to a big Chesterfield, smoking a cigar and drinking Cabernet.

You guys helped create the magic . A massive thank you to the Grapes of Mirth team (who do all the actual work) Jason, Seb, Di and Hannah. I say this with the greatest sincerity, I could probably do it without you. Just kidding!!! Relax! . Lastly, to you, the Bad Seeds, you are universally and without exception some of the best people to perform to, drink with, chat to, have a selfie and share a laugh with. Grapes of Mirth events feel extremely special every time we do them because of YOU and what YOU bring to them! . Have a great Christmas and New Year, hope to see you all again in 2019….
