Grapes of Mirth
Grapes of Mirth Grapes of Mirth

Seppeltsfield,
Barossa Valley, SA

1 September 2018

WOW!!! How much fun was Seppeltsfield? Even as a seasoned veteran / old dog of comedy, that was one for the records! A massive thanks to everyone who came along. There’s a lovely sense of community at Grapes of Mirth that is not lost on the organisers, the host venue or indeed the performers. I have spoken to each of the performers who took the stage on the day and they all said you were a wonderful bunch of people and a pleasure to perform to. . To the comics – you guys were amazing, and it thrills me to share the stage with such talented, generous and friendly people. The bus ride back to Adelaide after a few vinos was almost as fun as the gig! Off record highlights included; Tom Ballard and Nikki Britton singing “Tiny Dancer” and Merrick and Tommy Little doing the world’s best impersonations of Tony Montana from “Scarface”. Fortunately for the world all of this was contained in Chookies mini bus! Apologies to you Chookie. . Looking forward to seeing you all again sometime soon. Thanks, and lots of love – Mez

Akmal Saleh

Nikki started out as an actor and exploded onto the comedy scene in 2011 with her warm, lightning-paced style, that has subsequently seen her appear on the Melbourne Comedy Festival Oxfam Gala, ABC’s Comedy Up Late and on The Comedy Channel as part of the Just For Laughs Festival. You may have also seen Nikki playing the scene-stealing Marlo on Peter Helliar’s How to Stay Married on Network 10, feature in Matt Okine’s The Other Guy and star in the Screen Australia web-series Sheila’s.

Nikki Britton

Writer, actor, and one of Australia’s favourite comedians. Luke is also co-creator, co-writer, and star of the smash hit sitcom ‘Rosehaven’ with Celia Pacquola for ABC TV, for which Luke won the award for Most Popular Actor at the 2019 TV Week Logie Awards! The third season of Rosehaven aired on the ABC in 2019. Also a regular on ABC’s ‘Utopia’. Tasmania’s prodigal son returns for Grapes of Mirth!

Luke McGregor

An award-winning stand-up comedian/actor/writer/broadcaster/person who always gives 100%. He’s one of Australia’s hottest comic talents, he’s performed and won acclaim all around the world; Edinburgh, Montreal, London, and he even once roast-battled Jimmy Carr and didn’t die in the process. His list of awards are many and extensive and include the Helpmann Award for Best Show and the Pinder Prize, both at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

Tom Ballard

Comedy Royalty, one of the most in demand comedians in the country. A late starter, but with an award-winning career of almost 20 years; Fiona plays to packed houses in venues and festivals across the globe. Winner of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival’s (MICF) ‘Best Newcomer’ award in 2001 and ‘Piece of Wood’ award in 2006. She’s also the Queen of the Jungle, having won Network Ten’s “I’m a Celebrity….Get Me Out of Here!”.

Fiona O’Loughlin

His live shows are events – fun, noisy gigs playing to bigger audiences every year. His queues snake around the corner with fans who come back year after year to hear Tommy’s tales of high stakes dickheadery – most recently it was a story of running a marathon in Antarctica. Tommy’s life generates plenty of material and there is no lock of fans waiting to lap it up.

Tommy Little

The “Merric” from Merrick and Rosso. Mez, as he is affectionately known, has worked at almost every radio and TV station in the country. He also appears regularly on ‘Studio 10’ where he often ruins their infomercials and cooking segments. Mez loves wine, he also loves writing about himself in the 3rd person!
