Lineup

Pete Helliar is a muti-hyphenate performer, who is firmly in the business of being funny, and makes it look dead easy!

Whether they’re delivering sold-out stand-up, starring in Fisk, judging RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under or popping up on seemingly every great TV show in the country, they bring unmatched wit, style and brilliantly unpredictable energy. Equal parts clever, biting and outrageously funny, Rhys is one of those rare performers who can bring a room undone with a single sentence.

Rhys Nicholson

Claire Hooper is the least fun person she knows. She’s used to getting her dopamine from answering emails and getting places on time. But she is gonna do what it takes – joke t-shirts, family glamping, practical jokes, birdwatching, laser tag, rock concerts – to become fun again.

A rollercoaster of jokes from an adult who doesn’t want to die thinking; well at least I said no to everything.

As seen on The Gala, Have You Been Paying Attention and Claire Hooper’s House of Games.

Self-identifying bogan genius Brett Blake is a whip-smart, high-spirited stand up who has performed widely across Australia and the UK. A regular sell-out at the Melbourne International Comedy and Edinburgh Fringe Festivals, Brett also starred on ‘Common Sense’ for Network 10, has a hand in Melbourne’s Comedy at Coopers Inn, is a regular visitor to ‘The Little Dum Dum Club’ and shares the reins on ‘Worst First Dates’ podcast with Kelly Fastuca.

A former journalist, mother of two teenagers and one of the most exciting voices on the Australian comedy scene, say hello to Chris Ryan! Chris is in red hot form with her laconic take on everything from romance to passive aggressive co-workers.

Chris Ryan

Our party host, personal sommelier and chief idiot. By this point, we don’t think we need to introduce Mez. Grapes of Mirth founder and Head Clown, Wine Wanker, and the reason this is all happening. He’s also our MC.

Merrick Watts

If Grapes of Mirth falls in a Vineyard and DJ Pedro Moshman isn’t there to pick us up and get us dancing, did GoM really ever happen? No, it did not. No Pedro, No Party.

What to Expect

Comedy, Wine & Good Times

Hosted by comedian, sommelier, and Grapes of Mirth Head Clown Merrick Watts, this is the ultimate Darwin day out.

Leading the lineup is Australian comedy favourite Pete Helliar, alongside RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under host and Melbourne International Comedy Festival Best Show winner Rhys Nicholson.

They’re joined by mullet icon Brett Blake, the razor-sharp Chris Ryan, and Melbourne International Comedy Festival Best Newcomer winner Frankie McNair.

DJ Pedro Moshman will be on hand to keep things rolling before, between, and well after the comedy wraps.
