The biggest comedy lineup the Pyrenees has ever seen is coming to town!

Grapes of Mirth is heading to the Avoca Shire Turf Club for the first time – combining our three favourite things; comedy, wine & people.

On Sunday the 20th of October get ready for 6 hours of comedy, music, wine, gourmet food and good times. Five of Australia’s best comedians, and of course your host, Merrick Watts.

The ultimate festival day with five headline comedy sets, a host with the most, and some sweet DJ tunes. Only the best Pyrenees wines, with no less than ten local wine producers involved!

The host of ‘Hughesy We Have A Problem’, ‘The Masked Singer’ and one half of HIT Network’s ‘Hughesy & Ed’. Dave is back for another Grapes of Mirth stint after appearing at the very first GoM event in early 2017. The great man is in great form and it’s great to have him back!

Gez has a deceptively effortless knack for turning low-key yarns about agapanthuses and bouncy-castles into high-stakes, helplessly funny narrative rollercoasters. She has won the biggest award in Australian Comedy, and the Comedians Choice award, she’s the best in the biz, and we can’t get enough!

Nazeem Hussain has fast become one of the biggest stars of Australian comedy, and a much loved television and radio personality. Glam Adelaide reckons “This man embodies comic genius” and we couldn’t agree more.

A slightly deranged girl, known for her dark and twisted everyday observations and stories, and returning to her hometown of Townsville! Winner of the ‘Best Newcomer’ award at the 2018 Melbourne International Comedy Festival. Danielle also appeared as ‘Ranger Danny’ alongside stars Kate McLennan and Kate McCartney on the show everyone fell in love with – “GetKrack!n” for ABC TV.

WINNER: Best Comedy Adelaide Fringe Weekly Awards 2018 and a regular across all TV networks, Nath is going from strength to strength as a performer and stand-up and is in high demand, both in Australia and internationally. He’s a true craftsman of the art form.

The “Merric” from Merrick and Rosso. Mez, as he is affectionately known, has worked at almost every radio and TV station in the country. You might have seen him recently getting smashed in the face on SAS Australia, Australia’s REAL reality show. Mez loves wine, so much so that he’s a qualified sommelier, with dreams of retiring to a big Chesterfield, smoking a cigar and drinking Cabernet.

Avoca Shire Turf Club

Rain, hail, or shine, this show will go on, as it will take place in an enormous function centre (at least twice as big as Donald Trump’s hands) that will accommodate everyone seated comfortably. If the sun is out, there will be plenty of breaks to enjoy the outdoors with food and beverage in hand. The function centre conveniently opens up to the beautiful lawns surrounding the racecourse.

Don’t drive, bring your swag!

Make your visit to the Pyrenees a truly unique experience and camp or caravan at the racecourse. Kick start your weekend with the Blue Pyrenees Avoca Cup on Sat 19th, followed by Grapes of Mirth on the Sun 20th – all in the one location!

Campsites are unpowered and the toilet & shower facilities aren’t exactly 5 star, but for $15 per campsite I don’t think anyone will be complaining. Camping is available Friday to Sunday night, and can be booked here directly with the venue.

DJ Pedro Moshman

We have a travelling DJ, his name is Pedro Moshman, we never leave home without him – he’ll keep the festival vibe going between sets and after the comedy show. Bring your dancing shoes if you like a bit of soul and funk.
